Fellow Members of the MCITTA,
Our contractualr contractual
commitment date for the Tampa
Gathering is approximately 15 days
away. At that juncture we will be
financially penalized for any short
fall in registrations. Currently,
there is an insufficient number of
members who have registered to meet
the contract obligation and it does
not appear we will achieve the
required number to satisfy our
vendors within the next two weeks;
therefore, I believe it is necessary
to cancel the 2010 MCITTA 8th Annual
Gathering in Tampa.
I would be less than
responsible if I do not take
immediate steps to circumvent a huge
expense to our meager treasury. I am
instructing the Gathering Committee
in Tampa to take all necessary steps
to terminate arrangements with the
Hyatt Regency Hotel and all other
vendors. I am instructing our
Treasurer to make arrangements for
restitution of all monies collected
to date to those few who have
registered for the Gathering.
Members who have already registered
at the Hyatt should cancel their
reservations immediately to preclude
incurring a penalty cost.
To those members who have
registered and to the Tampa
Gathering Committee I extend my
regrets and many thanks for your
participation and commitment to our
Association. Your support is
appreciated. It is most unfortunate
to have to cancel this event that
our hosts in Tampa have worked so
hard to put together. My personal
appreciation and thanks go out to
Paul Hernandez, Richard Quinones,
and Kris Hankinson.
There are many factors and
personal reasons for the lack of
participation, I'm sure. It is
unfortunate we must cancel this
year's Gathering and it is certainly
nothing I wanted to do. There will
be further information regards the
future of MCITTA published on the
web and in a forthcoming E-
Bulletin. I encourage everyone to
stay informed.
